Going to be working on two machines this week.

A cool Singer class 15.  It just needs cleaning and polishing.  Should be ready to go by the end of the week.  This one will probably go on Etsy.  I need my first Etsy sale!!!

This is the one I was excited to see.  A very nice Pfaff 130.  You can tell it has worked a lot in its life.  Most of the work I will be doing will be in the motor.  The brushes were worn done to little nubs.  Otherwise I will only be doing a very light cleaning on this one.  Not a full disassemble like I do on the singers.

The third machine I received last week is a dud. The clear coat is shot.   Its not a complete loss.  I’m always needing pieces parts for other machines.

Up and coming sewing machines

Excuse the mess.  Some up and coming machines.
Upandcoming

  1. Nice singer 201-2. (Left)  Should be on Ebay later this week.
  2. Very cool Singer Class 15. (Lower right)This is my first class 15 Singer with an external motor.
  3. Ugly Joe.  Thats the stripped 201 in the back corner.  That will be done some day….
  4. Nice Singer clone.  That’s the metallic blue one. It’s a beauty.   Unfortunately it doesn’t have a Morse or Wizard badge.  Otherwise it would already be sold…  I will do a full write up on it in the future.   It is currently for sale on Ebay and Etsy.
  5. I have a Pfaff 130 to pick up later this week.  That will be my first Pfaff.  I’m very excited to see this machine.
  6. Another Singer Class 15 coming in this week as well.  Can’t remember if it has the potted motor or not.

Packing a sewing machine to ship across the country

This is a description of how I pack my sewing machines.

  1. First I use bubble warp and shrink wrap to secure anything that moves to the deck of the sewing machine.

  2. Next I cut a piece of foam to match the size of the machine and attached it to the bottom of the machine with shrink wrap.  I also wrap the whole machine in bubble wrap and more shrink wrap.

  3. Next the sewing machine is placed in the inner box.  And more foam is used to pad the machine so it can’t move.

    At this point I cut the box to match the size of the sewing machine and seal with heavy duty shipping tape.
  4. Next the inner box is nestled in a 200# cardboard box using non collapsible packing peanuts. In addition, an extra layer of cardboard is placed in the bottom of the box.

  5. Finally more peanuts are put on top with a extra layer of cardboard and the box is sealed with heavy duty shipping tape.

     So far there have been no complaints of damaged machines.
